MANGAWHAI New Build
Positioned on an elevated and well-oriented site in Mangawhai, this architecturally detailed residence utilises a refined palette of Pioneer Red corrugated steel and vertical Macrocarpa cladding to establish a robust yet warm material expression suited to the coastal environment. Designed by David Maurice of LTD Architectural Design Services, the home is organised around a carefully considered floor plan comprising three bedrooms, a dedicated study, and three bathrooms.
The spatial layout centres on a generous open-plan kitchen, dining, and living zone, designed to maximise natural light, solar gain, and connection to the surrounding landscape. The combination of durable corrugate cladding with naturally weathering Macrocarpa provides both low-maintenance performance and visual depth, while clean rooflines and articulated forms reinforce the home’s contemporary architectural language.
A key component of the project was the clients’ strong engagement throughout the design and construction process, ensuring the spatial planning, material selection, and detailing aligned closely with their lifestyle requirements and personal aesthetic. The resulting home demonstrates a collaborative approach to design, delivering a highly functional and architecturally resolved dwelling that responds thoughtfully to both site and client.
