  • 2015 House of the Year Gold Award Langs Beach

A remote architecturally designed home that is casually laid back yet highly refined, this three bedroom, two bathroom home is an example of holiday style character. As you approach the house uninterrupted from the upper level, you walk through the stunning entry with a raking roof, pivot door and feature wall, leading you seamlessly into the generous open plan living and out to the panoramic and expansive rural and coastal views. The materials of the house were chosen to reflect the natural surroundings of the bush and sea, with cedar weatherboard cladding and polished concrete floor throughout the interior. An expanse of windows flood the interior with light. On warm days the windows and sliding doors slide right open to showcase the reflection of the Pohutukawa tree shining on the large kitchen splash back next to the wood textured cabinetry. Translucent features are used in parts of the roof and cladding introducing delicate detail to the space and outdoor living, with space for the BBQ and outdoor fireplace.

  • 2015 House of the Year Sustainable Lifestyle Award Red Beach

A housing nightmare is being transformed into an eco-dream home for the Stadler family.

This two level, four bedroom new home set on 72 piles, is a great example what has been made for a sustainable lifestyle in the long run. The sloping site with sinking foundations of the previous house set the scene for the new home that has been meticulously built since. Set on a narrow site that slopes towards the beach, this house utilises the section to create a beautiful journey of varying sustainable intensities, as it slowly reveals its features of both the build and surroundings. As you journey through this chemical free home you see this home is testament to both the clients brief and builders construction ability.
