ADDING CHARACTER TO A NEW BUILD. SO WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

There are so many benefits to owning a newly built home such as double glazing, higher insulation levels and open plan living.  But one thing often missing in a new build is a bit of character and personality. Here’s a few simple suggestions to personalise your new home.

BATHROOM VANITY
Most building companies use a fairly generic vanity as a standard inclusion.  Selecting a different style of vanity is a great way to personalise your home.  There are so many options readily available, try an offset basin rather than centre position or have something custom made.  A floating wooden shelf with top mounted vanity can give a designer feel without blowing the budget.  Or try upcycling an old cabinet for a truly unique design, it works particularly well with mid-century design elements that are currently on trend.

FIREPLACE

Heat pumps are great for heating and cooling our homes but a fireplace provides a great focal point in a room and is an easy way to inject personality, be it slick and modern or an ornate mantle surround full of character.  A mantle also provides a perfect spot to add decorative pieces.

LIGHTS
Add some feature lights to the home.  They can set the tone for the style of the furnishings of the house and add ambience when lit.

BUILT IN SHELVING
Built in shelving.  Built in shelving adds architectural interest to a room and not only provides great storage but are perfect for styling with your personal touches.

FEATURE DOOR
Barn doors as features in living rooms and kitchens are growing in popularity.  They are a great way to add character to a room be it rustic or modern.

COLOUR
Add colour and personality with your furnishings. A patterned rug can make an impact without overpowering the room.  Cushions are easily changeable as seasons and taste change without a huge cost.

TIMBER

Be it flooring, shelving or furniture timber adds warmth and texture to any home. Wooden flooring comes in so many colours and widths it a great way to stamp your mark.
